ROUGH GRADE CERTIFICATE
Cami Comfort Homes will provide the homeowner with a rough grade certificate. The homeowner may start landscaping once they receive the rough grade certificate via email. The homeowner is responsible for any damages such as cracked curbs or sidewalks that may occur during landscaping. Please ensure your landscaper is aware of this during your landscaping process. We suggest asking your landscaper to avoid driving on sidewalks and/or curbs with their equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is landscaping and why is it important for a new home?
Landscaping refers to the planning, design, and installation of outdoor elements around a home, including lawns, gardens, plants, walkways, and hardscapes. Good landscaping enhances curb appeal, improves drainage and soil quality, increases property value, and creates functional outdoor living areas. Thoughtful landscaping also helps protect the home’s foundation and can reduce long-term maintenance costs by using climate-appropriate plants and materials.
How much does landscaping typically cost for a new home?
The cost of landscaping a new home varies widely depending on project scope, yard size, plant materials, hardscaping, and local labour rates. Basic lawn installation and soil grading may be more affordable, while comprehensive design with patios, walkways, trees, and irrigation increases the investment. Understanding your goals and budget early helps homeowners get accurate estimates and ensures the finished landscape fits both lifestyle and financial expectations.
What are the best seasons for landscaping installation?
The best seasons to install landscaping are spring and fall. Spring provides ideal soil moisture for planting, while fall offers cooler temperatures that help plants establish roots before winter dormancy. These seasons also avoid the extreme heat of summer and the frozen ground of winter, allowing for healthier plant growth and more efficient installation of turf, shrubs, and trees.
What is the difference between landscaping and hardscaping?
Landscaping includes everything that makes outdoor space functional and attractive, such as grass, plants, trees, and soil preparation. Hardscaping refers specifically to built, non-plant elements like patios, walkways, retaining walls, fire pits, and driveways. Both work together: softscape (plants and greenery) brings life and colour, while hardscape provides durable structure and usability in outdoor living areas.
How do I choose the right plants and materials for my landscape?
Choosing the right plants and materials depends on your climate, yard conditions, sunlight exposure, maintenance goals, and design style. Start with plants that are adapted to local weather, and consider soil type and water needs. Use drought-tolerant species where appropriate to reduce watering requirements, and group plants with similar needs together. Hardscape materials like stone, pavers, and mulch should be selected for durability, safety, and aesthetic harmony with your home and neighbourhood environment.
